While at Deep Ellum recently I had to check out Casey’s “Bohannon” (along with Pretty Things’ new creation). The “Bohannon” is definitely a great drink (even if Casey looks like grim death in the photo above), and one I probably would not have tried without your mention of it. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, it’s male-dominated. Maybe it’s leftover from the bad old days when the presence of women in bars was scandalous. I think the bartending profession might evolve like that of cooking: most of the early stars were men, but there is parity now — especially in Boston! Barbara Lynch, Jody Adams, Lydia Shire, Ana Sortun…

Great post, and now I know who Bohannon is, something I’ve wondered about since I bought that first Tom Tom Club LP in 1980, with that refrain from “Genius of Love”: “Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon, Bohannon.” Mariah Carey is forever doomed to my Ninth Circle of Musical Hell for daring to sample it.
